XUL Architecture

XUL Architecture designs homes for homeowners who want to extend, refurbish or build a property. Its work covers residential architecture, interior design and an architect-led design-and-build service. The practice says it uses neuroarchitecture principles to consider how light, space and materials affect the way people experience a home.

Managing director Sebastian Sandler opened the practice in 2008. The team includes architects, architectural assistants and an office manager; founding partner Maia Lemlij leads business strategy, research and development. XUL says it has completed more than 300 projects across London boroughs.

The process starts with a discussion about the property, the client’s aims and budget, followed by a feasibility review and fee proposal. The team develops concepts, prepares planning submissions and technical drawings, co-ordinates consultants and supports work on site. Clients can pause after each of four project milestones.

XUL Build combines design and construction through an in-house team, with one contact for consultants, payments and administration. Interior design covers finishes, fixtures, joinery and furnishings.
