About Stanhope Lofts
Stanhope Lofts is the trading name of Stanhope Construction Limited, a family-run construction business based in South London. It undertakes loft conversions, extensions, home refurbishments and interior projects, as well as bathroom and kitchen fitting and carpentry.
The company says it has over 32 years’ experience in construction. Its director, Gavin Hughes, began as an apprentice carpenter at 17 and has worked on commercial and domestic sites. He founded Stanhope Construction after a previous timber-frame business partnership.
For each project, the team discusses the client’s aims and acts as main and managing contractor, subcontracting plumbing and electrical work. It works to the schedule and budget, uses quality materials and keeps communication open from the first enquiry through completion. The carpentry team also takes on work for building contractors.

What customers say
We have now worked on 2 projects with Gavin and Stanhope Construction, for the second project we didn’t even put it out to tender. We knew that Gavin would not only give us a fair price (not the cheapest, not the most expensive) but it’s the quality of the work that’s the key, and being able to trust someone. We hope that says it all.”
Stanhope Construction helped to fully interpret our vision for our complete house refurbishment. Gavin was honest and upfront and always available to communicate with at all times across the 4 month project . They helped bring in our project within budget with a standard and finish that was high
I am delighted with the transformation of my home by Stanhope Construction. They had to move walls, construct new ones and reallocate the stairs. Gavin and his team have always been happy to listen and take on board any requests I've made. I feel very comfortable leaving them in my home. They completed the job in the time allocated meaning I was in for Christmas!
