Hathaway's Carpentry
Bespoke carpentry and fitted furniture in Bristol and London
About Hathaway's Carpentry
Hathaway’s Bespoke Carpentry is a family-run business founded by Doug Hathaway, who has more than 25 years’ experience. The team is based in South East London, with a recently opened Bristol workshop, and serves clients in Bristol and London. It makes fitted wardrobes, furniture and kitchens, alongside general carpentry such as shelving, staircases and door installation.
Work begins with an on-site visit to discuss the space, requirements, budget and materials. After measurements and photos, the company shares design sketches, a quote and an estimated timeframe. Much of the preparation happens off site so the team can arrive ready to fit, with less mess and disruption; it says it cleans as it goes.
Projects are designed for each property, including made-to-measure wardrobes for alcoves and sloping ceilings. The company says it selects timber from merchants with FSC (UK) and PEFC chain-of-custody certification, and is fully insured with public liability cover.

What customers say
Doug at Hathaway’s Carpentry built ceiling height corner wardrobes in our master bedroom and converted a small built-in wardrobe into a large ceiling height two-door wardrobe in my daughter’s room. Doug was polite, on time, worked incredibly hard, and completed the work on time.
Doug fitted bookshelves and cupboards in the alcoves either side of the fireplace in the living room. He did an excellent job. He cleared the previous installation, designed and fitted the new bookshelves and cupboards in a classy way, and was very considerate, courteous and reliable.
Doug was very professional from start to finish and completed a beautiful carpentry job on time, with great communication throughout. We wanted some contemporary fitted wardrobes built in our master bedroom and we’re thrilled with the results, which have really transformed the space.
