Elkins Construction

Elkins Construction is a family-owned building contractor established in 1963. It provides roofing, new-build homes, refurbishment, planned maintenance, reactive repairs, retrofit and fire safety work for private and public-sector clients in London and the South East. Its clients include local authorities, housing associations, schools, hospitals, leisure centres and commercial organisations.

Maintenance and void works cover residential, commercial and retail properties. The listed trades include electrical, plumbing, heating, joinery, glazing, roofing, building work and external fabric. The company also undertakes internal and external refurbishment, described as including extensions, conversions, modernisation, fitting out and repair.

Brothers Arthur and Edward established the roofing business; today Arthur’s children Ray and Glenis run the company. Ray became Managing Director in 1988. Elkins says many team members have been with it for 10, 15 or 20 years, alongside newer recruits. Its projects include a five-year roofing, waterproofing and drainage programme at the Barbican Estate.
